If any of you want to live through the aftermath of the Second World War from the perspective of the displaced young children of Nazi officers (a rather unorthodox perspective for a WWII film), watch Lore.
Very, very depressing and slightly disturbing, with lots of blurry close-ups and loaded stares, Lore is a film that leaves the viewer in a state of “What the fuck was that?” while gazing sorrowfully at their computer screen.
Recommended if you’re in for something raw, impactful, and horribly sad.
P.S. It’s in German, but the Netflix version has English subtitles.
“A Russian survivor, liberated by the 3rd Armored Division of the U.S. First Army, identifies a former camp guard who brutally beat prisoners on April 14, 1945, at the Buchenwald concentration camp in Thuringia, Germany.” (AP Photo)
It must’ve been nice to be able to accuse someone of something after watching that person beat innocent people.
