How’d the test go? We wanna hear all about it.
Sure!
Sorry for making so many posts, but I’ve got more advice. (I’m a teaching assistant in an AP Euro class so I know all the tricks!)
1. Use the afore-mentioned focus template. It was written by the gods. Seriously.
2. DON’T list your support categories in your focus. That’s what the supports are for.
3. Make sure each support sentence is ONLY one sentence long.
4. Your focus should neither be too complex nor too general. Find the happy balance.
5. Two words: SPECIFIC. EVIDENCE.
6. Make sure the amount of evidence in each paragraph of your FRQ is fairly similar. DBQs, on the other hand, don’t have to have a balanced amount of evidence.
7. Cite your DBQ evidence with the document number! ie (Doc 7)
8. Add a couple of POVs in your DBQ, as well as some outside evidence. It will please the AP graders muchly. (Extra points, rake ‘em in!)
9. Use a majority of the documents on the DBQ. Use all but two docs for an extra point.
10. Make your analysis complex and insightful when analyzing documents or specific evidence. Try and make it two sentences instead of just one.
11. Under no circumstances should you EVER restate the question in your focus. USE THE TEMPLATE IN THE LAST POST.
12. Use process of elimination in the multiple choice if you don’t know an answer. Try not to leave anything blank!
13. Know which centuries each event happened in. Knowing the timeline/chronological order of events really helps!
14. Breathe. Relax. Get a good night’s sleep the night before, and EAT BREAKFAST. Bring snacks and water with you to the test center.
15. Don’t fall asleep or draw pictures or write about your cat. Even if you have no idea what to write or which answer to choose, try your best!!
16. You KNOW the info! It’s all up there in your head! You CAN do this!
17. Ferdinand and Isabella were the absolute monarchs of Spain in the late 15th/early 16th centuries.
18. The English Civil War and The Glorious Revolution were two different events.
19. Vatican II allowed masses to be in languages other than Latin.
20. Germany wasn’t a country until 1871.
21. Russia rarely won anything.
22. If you can’t think of categories to use in your essays, try: social, political, and economic. Try and find potential categories listed in the question. Sometimes they’ll give them to you.
23. Contrast: differences. Compare: similarities. Compare & contrast: Do BOTH.
24. GOOD LUCK!!!
And, for the heck of it:
___ caused ___ which led to ___ and ultimately ___.
For all those taking the AP Euro exam, just remember this thesis template:
___ caused ___ which led to ___ and ultimately ___.
Works every time!

Oh AP Euro. The mods miss that class. Here I have a French Rev joke for ya.
Why did the French Revolution start?
Because the third estate didn’t know whether they should kick it in the front seat or sit in the back seat.

Martin Luther to the Church and Pope Leo XI’m doin’ this tonight,
You’re probably gonna start a fight.
But I know this is right.
Hey Leo come on,
I loved God endlessly,
When you weren’t there for me.
So now it’s time to leave and make some reform.
I know that they can’t take no more
It ain’t no lie
I’m posting shit up on that door
Leo, bye, bye, bye…Bye Bye
I’m sick of this Church abuse
Now let’s start thinking like Jon Hus
You may hate me but it ain’t no lie,
Leo, bye, bye, bye…
Bye Bye
Don’t really wanna make it tough,
I just wanna tell you that I had enough.
It might sound crazy,
But it ain’t no lie,
Leo, bye, bye, byeThere’s only ninety-five
Just keep the Bible alive
So give me one good reason,
Why this is wrong?
I live for God you see,
So why we gotta disagree?
The Church would be better if your power was goneI know that they can’t take no more
It ain’t no lie
I’m posting shit up on that door
Leo, bye, bye, bye…I’m sick of this Church abuse
Let’s start thinking like Jon Hus
So I’m leavin’ you behind
